Looking into the last box!

My father in 1969

I was looking for a special album from my childhood. After searching through all my boxes, guess where I found it. You guessed right! Namely in the last box. Unfortunately I don’t have many good pictures of my deceased father. In those days the camera were not as good as they are today. But by scanning the picture it came out pretty amazing in spite of the quality. I am looking at a picture of my father (where his children: the five siblings were lined up). I remember this year (1969) as a happy time from my childhood. My father had a long beard and was hairy! He worked with heavy machines preparing the groundwork for houses to be build. (When he was younger he worked 5 winters in the far north in the mines at Spitsbergen.)

My father had a friend who worked in the same branch. His friend came over one day to remove my father’s beard and even give him a haircut! I could hardly recognize my father after his friend had removed hair and beard. I started to cry, my tears were unstoppable. His friend had totally damaged my father’s look! My father was reduced to a man with a unrecognizable face. His cheek looked skinny! I was angry at my fathers friend. He had made my father into something ugly and I told him! How could he do such an ugly thing?

When I got older I was reminded of this episode each time my fathers friend came to visit. Even at his 80 year birthday!

When I’m looking at these pictures they reminded me of this episode from my childhood.

This picture is taken in 1969 just some days before my father’s friend came and changed my father’s look. This is how I want to remember my father. Children don’t like it when their parents make drastic changes to how they look!

By the way my father passed away on July 13th 2015, the day before he turned 90 years old.

Have a wonderful and blessed day in the Lord.
