I had been busy with all kind of works in my house when my mom called me a couple of days ago asking for a visit. I replied that I would come but did not say when. So when Saturday came I woke up thinking of my mom.
My mom is 92 years old chained to a wheel chair after being hit by a bus a couple of years ago. With only one leg her mobility is not as it once was. Would I come? When will I see you again? I woke up with all these questions in my mind knowing that the day would be spent with my mom.
When I arrived she needed help to put on her bra. She took her medicine and a trip to the restroom and looked for the one shoe she wanted to wear. After a while she was dressed and ready to go.
You have to be patient and not be in a hurry when you are going to spend the day with your 92 year old mom. Finally we were out of the house, the wheel chair had to be put together into the car.. and then we were ready to go to a nearby mall having our dinner there.
We read the newspapers and had coffee as well. My mom even meet someone she knew and had a nice chat.. Then we went to a store to buy some sheet for the bedding and after that we went to the grocery store. I drove my mom back home and put her groceries in place. I said good bye to my mom and gave her a hug. She asked me again: “When will I see you next time?”
We had a lovely time together.
My mom is still living at home with some care from nurses that stop by during the day. But I can tell that mom misses company. Sometimes it’s hard for my mom to have a conversation since her hearing has become worse especially after the accident. Her speech has also become effected after the accident. Before the accident she loved to walk even where the road where steep, She used to take the bus from bingo and stop by my house and come in for a coffee and something to eat. So much has changed in a short period of time.
One thing I am glad for is that we have had many conversations about our faith in Jesus Christ. My mom is a believer. My mom told me that she once heard a voice talk to her. She was alone in the kitchen, and when she asked: “Who is talking to me?” The voice answered: “Yahushua”!
