This happened when I spent some days in Oslo in the beginning of September. I was visiting my oldest son and his family who’s living there. I took the train downtown to buy a pizza at Domino’s with my 16 yr old son and to buy a gift to my grandchild before travelling overseas.
As we were sitting on a bench at Oslo S, waiting for the train to arrive, going back to where we stayed, a man stopped by my side. My son was holding on to his pizza box. The man tried to sell magazines. There are drug addicted people who hang around that place who is mostly trying to sell those magazines.
I did not respond to the man and assumed that he would pass me by. I was not interested. It seemed for a while that the man was passing by but suddenly changed his mind. He came back and yelled at me and asked me if I could not speak? Did I not understand Norwegian? Suddenly he spat at me! and it landed in my hair!
I could not believe what I was experiencing. I didn’t expect this at all. All I wanted was to relax with my son while we were waiting for the train to arrive. To open my purse at this place was not going to happen. I had heard to many stories about people getting robbed at this place.
The man hurried away after his spitting. I called out loud to him: «The Lord Bless you!». I saw that the man stopped and stood on his toes to look back at me. He stared back at me and he looked surprised. He was smiling!.. and I smiled back!
I was thinking that he shall not have the honor of stirring up anger inside of me. Christ in me had the last word!
